Myponga & Second Valley
Rolling green dairy country, a reservoir, a legendary old market and the secluded coves of Second Valley and Rapid Bay.
Myponga
A small village in lush dairy country above the Myponga Reservoir. The Myponga Market, housed in a 1960s garage on the main road, is a cult favourite for vintage finds, local produce and cheese from the nearby Myponga Cheese Factory. Myponga Beach is a quiet, cliff-flanked cove with shack-style accommodation.
Second Valley & Rapid Bay
Further south, Second Valley is a hidden jewel: a tiny jetty, a freshwater creek, a sandstone beach and sculptural rocky headlands that make it one of the most-photographed coastlines in South Australia. Neighbouring Rapid Bay is a legendary dive site (home to the elusive leafy sea dragon) and the site of a long derelict jetty perfect for atmospheric photography.
